About Us
Vodafone’s commitment to the community in which we operate extends beyond the products and services we offer. Our aim is to enable people to make the most of their potential and mobilise social change.
The Vodafone India Foundation, registered in 2008 as a public charitable trust was set up with an initial investment of $10 million from Vodafone Group Plc.
The Vodafone India Foundation has received “prior permission” from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and is eligible to receive foreign contributions under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, as amended. Currently, donations made to the Vodafone India Foundation are not eligible for deduction under Section 80G of the [Indian] Income-tax Act, 1961 (the “Income Tax Act”). However, the Vodafone India Foundation intends to apply for necessary registrations under the Income Tax Act, which will entitle donors to such a deduction. Subject to necessary registrations under the Income Tax Act and approval as may be required, the operations and charitable programs of the Vodafone India Foundation will be implemented.
The Vodafone Foundation, headquartered in the United Kingdom (the “Vodafone Foundation UK”), provides grants, using its own funds, to various charitable and not-for-profit non-governmental organisations in India that are eligible to receive foreign contributions and have received the necessary registrations and authorisations under applicable laws of India. In connection with the contributions provided by the Vodafone Foundation UK in India, the Vodafone India Foundation provides a full range of non-financial support to various projects to ensure their success and that the beneficiaries receive the maximum benefit possible from such contributions.
