Future Hope
In 2011, we partnered with Future Hope to assist with their efforts in educating children from the surrounding slum communities and providing a stable and loving home environment.
Originally set up in 1988 to provide a home, education and medical care for street children, Future Hope now runs seven homes, a health clinic and a school for over 250 children. Some children from Future Hope have gone on to attend top Kolkata schools, while others are now studying for degrees. They acquire self esteem and a self belief that helps them to go out into the world of work. They find jobs in India and abroad, get married and several now have children.
The Vodafone Foundation funding has contributed towards the annual operational costs of Future Hope and enabled the charity to scale up its activities. It is also helping Future Hope in the first phase to build a new sports facilities, a school for up to 500 street children and new homes to accommodate younger children on the outskirts of the city.
