The Women and Innovation Awards (WIN Awards) celebrates the use of mobile technology to improves the lives of women across India in the areas of education, health and economic empowerment.

In partnership with the Digital Empowerment Foundation, the Vodafone India Foundation hosted the WIN Awards on Friday 2nd December at the India Habitat Centre in Delhi (website).

At the event, the trustees of the Vodafone India Foundation announced the three winners who were presented with a combined total of funding of 4.4 million rupees along with a mentorship for two years to enhance their efforts. A total of 93 nominations in total were received, which was a strong result.

The winning mobile projects which are all being implemented by NGO’s across India are as follows:

• 1. “Hello Sakhi” – Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan, Gujarat
• 2. Barefoot College – Ajmer District, Rajasthan
• 3. MHSM (SMS Tool Kit) – Datamation Foundation Charitable Trust, New Delhi
